Blanche Ellen Brenneman was born December 3, 1924 in Joetown, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Knepp) Brenneman. She has lived in the Kalona community all of her life. She worked as a nurses aide at Greenwood Manor, Pleasantview Home, Mercy Hospital and Washington County Hospital. She was a member of the Kalona Mennonite Church and was active with WMSC. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School when she was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling and playing the accordion. Blanche died on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 87 years.
Blanche is survived by four sisters - Ada Fisher of Kalona; Irene Brenneman of Kalona; Lois Gugel of Kalona; Virginia Ann Ryan of Pinckney, MI; three brothers - David Brenneman of Kalona; Wallace Brenneman of Kalona; James Brenneman of Denver, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister Mabel; and a brother Daniel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Rev Scott Swartzendruber will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Parkinson’s Research and KNWS Radio. |
