Albert Lynn Troyer

Wellman

Wellman – Albert Lynn Troyer was born January 27, 1938, in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Ezra and Martha (Yoder) Troyer.  He graduated from IMS in 1956 and attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas for one year.  He served in PAX, a Mennonite voluntary service organization, in Paraguay for two years.  Albert was united in marriage to Barbara Martin on September 2, 1961.  He owned and operated the Wellman Lumber Company for over forty years, retiring in 2003.  Albert was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church.  He served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a cashier for Crowded Closet, and as a driver for Impact Life.  He logged over 5,600 hours delivering blood.  He also served as the State Coordinator for the Iowa Mennonite Disaster Service.  He enjoyed golf, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and entertaining his great grandchildren.  Albert died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the age of 85 years.
 
He is survived by his wife Barbara; four children Carmen (Mark) Fish of Bettendorf, Todd (Deb) Troyer of Wellman, Desa (Michael) Prebyl of North Kansas City, Missouri, and Lara (Jeff Dyck) Troyer of Cleveland, Ohio, ten grandchildren Zachary (Mallory) Troyer, Hannah (Joseph) Gent, Halle Fish, Havyn Fish, Richard Fish, Christopher Prebyl, Carissa Prebyl, Chloe Prebyl, Henry Dyck, and Margaret Dyck, and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Carroll (Arlene) Troyer, Don (Judy) Troyer and Larion (Terry) Troyer.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:30 Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman. Pastor David Heusinkveld will be officiating. A private family burial at the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2023 at Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Mennonite Disaster Service and Wellman Food Pantry. messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
