Williamsburg-Alice was born February 20, 1936 in Iowa City, the daughter of Gordon and Blanche (Bell) Tompkins. She attended and graduated from Marengo High School in 1954. Alice was united in marriage to Raymond R. Heitman on August 7, 1954. The couple made their home in rural Marengo. Alice was a homemaker and also farmed with her husband. She also retired from Amana Refrigeration after 10 years in the Service Department. Alice had a love for music her entire life. She learned to play music by ear, and played at several events. In her later years, she enjoyed the times she was able to spend with her older sisters, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sports events. Alice died Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 90 years.
Alice is survived by her children: Randy (Donna) Heitman of Williamsburg, Sheryl (Jim) Schafbuch of Ankeny and Julie (Mark) Droessler of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law: Ron Kloos of Belle Plaine 14 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 2004, daughter, Diana Kloos, her parents, four sisters Lois Wallace, Helen Hartin, Eleanor Dietrich Wyant, and Mary Goldammer, a brother Edgar Tompkins and 2 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at the Genoa Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for Essence of Life Hospice.
