Alvin F. Mouchka, age 85 of Marengo, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Funeral Services: 1:30 P.M. Thursday, January 10, 2019, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Robert Dugger officiating. Burial will be in the Hala Cemetery, rural Swisher, Iowa, with Military Honors. Friends may call after 12:30 P.M. Thursday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be contributed to Rose Haven Nursing Home in his name.
Alvin is survived by his sister, Rose Kasparek of Solon and eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Ben, Agnes, Irene, Adeline, Elmer, Franklin, Mable and Laverne.
Alvin Franklin Mouchka was born May 30, 1933 in Amana, Iowa, the son of Joe H. Mouchka and Sophie Ludvicek Mouchka. He graduated from the Amana High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Amana Society Farms for many years.
Alvin was a member of the Cedar Rapids Moose Lodge #304, the Williamsburg VFW #8797 and the American Legion. He was a big Hawkeye fan, both for football and basketball. He liked animals and enjoyed attending exotic animal sales at the Kalona Sales Barn. He enjoyed farm and rummage sales.
The family would like to thank Rose Haven Nursing Home staff and Care Initiatives Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care given to Alvin over the years.
