KALONA-Alvin R. Geigley, age 66, of Kalona, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at his home.

Alvin was born January 14, 1960, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Roy and Gladys (Martin) Geigley. He attended New Chester Christian School in New Chester, Pennsylvania through the 3rd grade. His family then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended Sunnyslope Elementary, Campo Bello Elementary and Sunnyview Christian Day School. On March 5, 1983, he married Carolyn Gingerich at Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Kalona. They lived in Kalona for one year, then moved to Phoenix for six years before returning to Kalona in 1990. Alvin worked several jobs from farming to baking. He was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church, where he served as an usher, was on the worship team and played in Witness and Gravel Scratchers. His biggest talent was music and he could play anything with strings. Alvin was also an accomplished artist and enjoyed baking and macrame.

Survivors include his wife: Carolyn of Kalona; siblings: Ray & Dorothy (Shue) Geigley of Chambersburg PA, Anna Lois Miller of Farmington NM, Esther Mae & Harley Kauffman of Farmington NM, Arlin & Rebecca (Burkholder) Geigley of Montrose CO, and Leon & Barbara (Yoder) Geigley of Goshen IN; brothers and sisters-in-law: Esther (Sensenig) Geigley of Beavertown, PA, Arlene (King) Geigley of Prescott Valley AZ. and Mary Ellen (Yoder) Geigley of Nottawa MI; Dale & Elaine (Bontrager) Gingerich of Kokomo IN. and Ida (Deiner) Gingerich of Nappanee IN. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Roy & Gladys Geigley, in laws Willard & Susie Gingerich, brothers: Donald Geigley, Melvin Geigley, Glen Geigley, brothers-in-law J. Glenn Miller and Clarence Gingerich, two nephews Nelson Geigley and Bobby Miller, nephew-in-law Larry Gingerich and three nieces Lorraine (Geigley) Shirk and Jeanette Miller, Doris (Miller) Good

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Fairview Mennonite Church near Kalona, with Pastors Conrad Hertzler and Perry Miller officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 - 5 and 6 - 8 on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the church.
