Anthony Aaron Loffer

Anthony Aaron Loffer, age 34, of Marengo, passed away at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, on July 10, 2017. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017, at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo, with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, rural Ladora. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the United Methodist Church, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anthony Aaron Loffer, son of Robert and Audrey Loffer, was born January 30, 1983, in Kansas. At an early age, Tony moved to Iowa. When he was seven, he moved with his family to Florida for four years then back to Marengo where he spent the rest of his life.

Tony worked at the Colony Inn while in high school, then getting a job a LaRey’s Cleaners after graduation from Iowa Valley High School. On July 29, 2010, he got his “dream job” at Big G Foods in Marengo. He loved his boss and fellow employees and even more, all the customers he helped. The way he talked you would have thought he owned the place!

Tony loved his town of Marengo and did all he could to support it, any organization and certainly any person that needed help. He never missed a fundraiser of any kind and financially supported it to the best of his ability. For several years, he volunteered his time every Friday helping city employees do outdoor projects. He was very honored in 2010, when he was selected to be the Grand Marshall for Marengo’s Annual 3 ^rd of July parade. Tony loved being allowed to be a “fireman”. Although he didn’t participate in firefighting activities, he rarely missed a fire meeting. He spent many hours helping with the annual fundraiser and was proud of all the money he raised for the July 3 ^rd , fireworks.

In his spare time, Tony enjoyed singing with the Believers, pitching horseshoes, bowling, attending Roughrider and Kernels games, watching NASCAR races, attending Iowa Valley sports and music events and anything his nieces and nephews were involved in, and making sure the family home always had its deck and front yard decorated with proper holiday decorations, light and inflatables. Tony’s church, Trinity United Church of Christ, was very important to him and he never missed a Sunday. He always made sure the candles were lit and everyone was greeted. He was a trustee on the consistory and a member of several committees.

Tony is survived by his parents, Bob and Audrey Loffer, his siblings Michelle (David) Schachtlie, Mark (Becky) Loffer, Matthew (Jordan) Loffer, Michael (Darcie) Loffer, Melanie (Brock) Junkins, Merissa (Alex) Ganea, Charity (Heath) Jensen, Christopher Loffer, Derek Loffer, Leslee Loffer and Shambria Loffer; his nieces and nephews Devin, Drew and Michaela Schachtlie, Bryce, Alexandra and Peyton Loffer, Jacob Loffer, Jordan and Kylie Loffer, Connor and Callie Junkins, Aden and Londyn Ganea, Sherra Bonnichsen and Greyson Loffer; a special Grandma Donna Fugate. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd and Lorna Jean Loffer, Glade and Helen Sietsema, special Grandpa Don Fugate and a niece Izabella Loffer.
