Barbara Jean Schutterle

Barbara Jean Schutterle, age 78, of Marengo, passed away June 29, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, in Hiawatha. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa, with Rev. Shawn Barr officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the Iowa County Food Bank or the Marengo American Legion.

Barbara is survived by four children Kim (Mark) Neuhaus of Cedar Rapids, Kelly Dye of Cedar Rapids, Jonette (Steve) Finley of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (Jason) Lillie of Marengo; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Francis Schutterle in December 2015.

Barbara Jean Stockwell was born November 3, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Verla Griggs Stockwell. She attended the Marengo schools through the ninth grade, and later received her GED from Kirkwood Community College in 1981. On August 23, 1968, in Kahoka, Missouri, Barbara was united in marriage to Francis Schutterle. The couple made their home in Marengo. They were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, and Barbara was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid.

Barbara enjoyed making crafts, painting, drawing and crocheting.
