Betty Fry

Marengo- Betty A Fry was born July 4, 1930 in Marengo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clarence and Annie (Pfister) Gunzenhauser. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1949. In 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Harold “Pick” Fry. She started at Amana Refrigeration in 1951, she worked there for 43 years before retiring. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marengo for 84 years. She enjoyed baking, bowling, attending Iowa Hawkeye Football games and spending time with her family. Betty died on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, at the age of 95 years.

She is survived by her son Brian (Becky) Fry of Marengo; granddaughter Kailea Fry; grandson Dillon Fry (Jade Cooling); and great grandson Lane Fry. She was preceded by her parents; husband Harold “Pick”; and brothers Lester "Wap", Gene “Motor” and Bob "Macker” Gunzenhauser.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Marengo American Legion. Burial will follow at the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
