Betty Healy, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit. The daughter of Orlo and Marie Olga (Springer) Bigelow, Betty Marie was born on May 10, 1944 in Bassett, Iowa. She graduated from New Hampton High School. She then attended the Cedar Falls College of Beauty in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On September 3, 1976, she married John Joseph Patrick Healy at the First United Methodist Church Chapel. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1999. Betty worked as a beautician for many years in Charles City. After moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1973, Betty and her husband owned and operated the All American Sweet Shoppe. Betty was a volunteer at the Quarter Maybe More Store in Mt. Pleasant. Her hobbies included playing card games, going to casinos, and collecting Betty Boop memorabilia. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. A member of the Assembly of God Church, Betty was involved in the Women's Ministries. Survivors include two daughters, Collette (Otto) Groenewald of West Point, IA and Susanna Millard of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three grandchildren, Cory Rodriguez, Jennifer Millard and Mikayla Millard; four great-grandchildren Jasper, Jacob, Lilly and Destiny; and one brother, Ralph (Lorraine) Bigelow of Charles City, IA. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; two brothers LeRoy Bigelow and Raymond Bigelow; and one sister, LeOra McFate.
