Blake D. Steinford, age 67 of Marengo, passed away from complications after surgery on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Davenport, Iowa. The family will be receiving friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Private family burial will be at a later date. There will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa County Peace Officer Association, 960 Franklyn Ave., Marengo, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife Christy; his mother Lorraine Steinford of Vinton; two daughters, Brook Roberts (Cody) of Victor, and Cami Steinford of Marengo; a sister Lori Hill (Jim) of Mount Auburn, and a brother Kirk Steinford (Penny) of Vinton. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane.
Blake Duane Steinford was born April 3, 1950 in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Duane Marvin and Lorraine Struve Steinford. He attended Washington High School graduating in 1968. Blake graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy in 1973. He and Christy Lee Schafbuch were married on November 23, 1974 at the Williamsburg Methodist Church. Blake served with the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. He was employed with the Benton County Sheriff Department in 1971. In 1973, he started with the Iowa County Sheriff Department for 32 years.
Blake enjoyed socializing at Hello Gorgeous Hair Salon, trips to Canada fishing, working part-time at the Iowa County Court House, and gossiping at Roggentien Salvage. He had a huge heart for everyone and their well-being. He loved his family and spending time with them.
