Carl Frederick Klipp was born on August 20, 1925 in Wilton, IA, the son of Adolph and Marie Schacht Klipp. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton. His family moved to the South English and Webster communities in 1938. He attended the South English High School. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Ruplinger in Millersburg, IA on October 10, 1948. Carl farmed 57 years in the South English and Webster area. They moved into North English on 1988. Carl was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg where he served as a trustee, church secretary and as an elder. He loved raising and feeding cattle, spending time at his grandchildren's softball and volleyball games and telling stories at auctions. Carl died following a sudden illness on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He lived 79 years and 18 days. He is survived by his wife Patricia of North English; a daughter Cheryl Hervey and husband Edward of South English, IA; sons: Gregory Klipp and wife Monica of Webster, IA; and Kenneth Klipp of North English, IA; 6 grandchildren: Michael (Denise) Hervey, Cindy Menke, Brande (Toby) Lehman, Sarah, Becky & Ashley Klipp; 2 great grandchildren: Haylee Lehman & Samuel Menke; 2 step great5 grandchildren: Christopher & Kristina Nor; a sister-in-law DeLoris Klipp of Greeley, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rev. Walter Klipp. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg on Saturday, September 11, 2004 with Rev. David Mac Kain officiating. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Powell Funeral Home in North English, IA on Friday, September 10th from 4 PM until 8 PM.
