Carole Jean Jacobi Kahler, age 82 of Jacksonville, TX, formerly of Marengo, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 in Tyler, TX. A Committal Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with burial in Calvary Cemetery following. There will be visitation from 10 – 11 AM prior to service. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of local arrangements.
The Holy Rosary recitation for Carole Kahler is scheduled at 11 o’clock in the morning, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 10 o’clock in the morning also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Carole Jean Jacobi was born February 9, 1935 in Marengo, Iowa to Carroll and Rita (Flanagan) Jacobi. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Andy Denning, and sister Janice Jacobi. Carole grew up in Marengo, IA. Carole, and future husband Wendell, graduated from Marengo High School in 1953. Carole attended The American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA prior to her marriage to Wendell on October 23, 1954. Having developed an interest in painting and pottery, Carole earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Due to Mr. Kahler’s military career, the family resided in numerous places around the country finally, after retirement, locating to Jacksonville, TX.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years Wendell Kahler of Jacksonville; sons Joe Kahler of Georgetown, Jeff Kahler and wife Christine Sheehy of Queens Creek, AZ, Kurt Kahler of Jacksonville; a daughter Lori McGuire and husband Jerry of Waxahachie; and a sister Clare Carns and husband Jack of Galesburg, Ill. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
