Wellman- Carolyn Grace Yoder was born June 13, 1927, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Emerson and Clara (Guengerich) Rodgers. Carolyn graduated from Hesston College High School and was once married to Elwood Yoder. To this union they were blessed with five children. Carolyn worked as a nursing assistant, homemaker, and farmer. Quilting, serving the Lord, reading the Bible, baking, and spending time with her family were some of her favorite activities. Carolyn passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at her residence in rural Wellman where she was born and raised.
Carolyn is survived by three sons, Roger (Dixie) Yoder of Bakersfield, CA; Benjamin (Deborah) Yoder of Ankeny, IA; Martin Yoder of Wellman, IA; two daughters, Clara Frantz of Wellman, IA; and Eileen (Patrick) Weidemann of Willmar, MN. She was blessed with 25 grandchildren.
Roger's children include Adam (Sarah) Yoder, Luke Yoder, and Hannah Yoder Reinhardt. Benjamin's children include Sarah (Jeff) Owens, Anna (Noah) Chang, Esther Bender, Samuel (Ashley) Yoder, Lydia (Samuel) Keithley, Joseph (Tara) Yoder, Mary (Nick) Sennert, Martha (Gabe) Noll, Rachel (Paul) Nelson, Tabitha (Micah) Bassett, Abraham Yoder, and Isaiah (Emily) Yoder. Clara's children include Gabriel, Carolyn, Naomi, Rebecca, Katie, Abigail, and Sadie Frantz. Eileen's children include Aaron (Morgan) Weidemann and Bryan Weidemann. There are 33 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Joshua Yoder, and a brother Carl Rodgers.
A celebration of life service will be 10:30 am Friday, February 11, 2022, at the West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell. Burial will be at the West Union Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, February 10th at the Yoder Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, IA. A general memorial has been established.
