North English

Carolyn Lee Kelley 79, of North English passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1st surrounded by family. Carolyn was born October 1st, 1942, in Williamsburg, Iowa, and was the daughter of Orville and Laura Goodman. Carolyn grew up on the family farm South of Williamsburg and continued to live most of her life in the Williamsburg and North English area. Carolyn graduated Williamsburg High School in 1960. Carolyn enjoyed traveling to many different places, but nothing compared to her love for Branson, Missouri. She also enjoyed visiting the Iowa State Fair which she worked at or visited every year since 1960. Carolyn was a lover of animals but most notably had a soft spot for dogs. She was a proud member of the Heartland Greyhound association and was proud to foster and love many of the retired race dogs. Carolyn liked to collect many different things, but nothing stood out as much as her vast collection of pigs, which numbered in the 1,000’s. She was proud of everything she and her family had accomplished and loved them all very much. She was a very simple lady, never wanted any extra attention and wanted what was best for her family. She was the beloved wife of Robert Kelley. Carolyn and Robert were joined in marriage on October 10th, 1960, at the Millersburg Methodist church. You would often find them traveling to Branson, Missouri, on trips to visit family or out to eat for supper. Carolyn enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including: collecting pigs, koi ponds, flowers, outdoor decorations (which included extensively decorating for each holiday) and simply enjoying nature. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Robert Kelley (North English); Son, Scott Kelley (Victor); Son in-law, John Purvis (North English); Grandchildren, Kelley James (Callie) Bearbower (Conroy); Kyle (Ryan) Garringer (Kalona); Kimberlee (Tyler) Baumgarten (Bondurant); Robert Kelley (Van horn); Roger (Kathleen) Kelley (Ely); Dillon (Rylee) Kelley (Marion); Justin (Rachel) Jones (Amana) and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Laura Goodman; Daughter; Tamara Kelley-Purvis and Grandson Robbi Bearbower. Celebration of life gathering will be at the North English Community Center on Sunday June 12th, 2022, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family for final expenses.
