Catherine M. Foster

Catherine M. Foster, age 56 of Brooklyn, died Thursday, April 27, 2017. Funeral Service: 5 P.M. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with Rev. Dorothy Banzhaf officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation: 2 to 5 P.M. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by her husband Cliff; four children, Chad Foster (Hannah), Jeremy Foster, and Jessica Wilcox (Brian) all of Brooklyn and John Foster (Tonya) of Knoxville; an honorary son, Eric Garringer of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, two brothers, Daniel Kepler, and Dale Kepler both of Iowa City; and a sister Terri Luhmann of Jackson, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Loretta Kepler, a grandson, her guardian angel, Kyler Wilcox, and her mother and father-in-law.

Catherine Marie Margaret Kepler was born August 17, 1960 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald Dean Kepler and Loretta Van Houten Kepler. She attended the Estherville Catholic Schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1978. She and Clifford James Foster were married on July 25, 1981. They made their home in Estherville before moving to the Brooklyn area. Cathy was a wife, mother and homemaker, and worked in the nursing profession. She was employed at the Brookhaven Nursing Home (now Brooklyn Community Estate) as a CNA for 20 years.

Cathy loved to read and spend time online. She liked to cook for her family. She especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. Cathy’s pets were a big part of her life and she loved them all dearly. She enjoyed horseback riding as a youth.
