Cecil Franklin Grimm was born January 17, 1921, near Millersburg, Iowa, a son of Charles and Iva (Kearney) Grimm. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1939. On September 4, 1945 he married Loretta Kiracofe in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived and farmed in the North English area. He was a member of the Community Church in rural Deep River and was a church trustee for several years. Cecil enjoyed playing baseball and softball in his younger years and watched baseball on television until his death. His other great interest and love was watching his two grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. Cecil died following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the English Valley Care Center in North English. He lived 83 years, five months, and six days. Survivors include his wife, Loretta Grimm of North English; two sons, Elmer Grimm and wife Dolores of North English, and Daryl Grimm and special friend Susie of Colfax; two grandchildren: Janel Grimm-Burgess and husband Timothy of Lansing, Michigan and Jeffrey Grimm of North English; one great grandson-Eddie Burgess of Lansing, Michigan and a sister, Dorothy Wiebold of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-Blanche Ross and Mildred Frazier. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the Community Church. Burial will be at Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English.
