Charles Ellison Struble was born on September 18, 1910, near Keswick, IA, the son of Clarence A. and Francilia E. Coburn Struble. He attended Sherman Country School. Charles farmed with his parents before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Mildred F. Finnicum on January 19, 1946, in Millport, OH. Charles farmed until 1977, when he retired and they moved into Keswick. After his retirement worked at the lumber yard and was a handy-man doing the many odd jobs as needed. He loved woodworking and made many doll houses and farm sets for the grandchildren. Charles was a member of the Keswick United Methodist Church and the James Murphy American Legion Post # 319. He became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in December 2001. He died at the Care Center on Thursday, March 3, 2005, following a short illness. He lived 94 years, 5 months and 13 days. Charles is survived by his wife Mildred of North English, IA; 2 daughters Patricia Buswell & husband Don of Iowa City, IA and Janice Henry & husband Don of Montezuma, IA; a son Ronald Struble & wife Deann of Manchester, IA; 7 grandchildren; 11great grandchildren and a brother-in-law Lyle Strasser of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Arlene Milburn, Nellie Strasser & Florence Creech; and a brother Raymond Struble. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Keswick United Methodist Church with Pastors Dick Smith and Don Ridenour officiating. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home in North English from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday. A memorial fund has been established for the Keswick United Methodist Church and the James Murphy American Legion Post #319.
