Charles A. "Chuck" Minarsich, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Friday, May 21, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 25th, beginning after 12:00 noon at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26th, 10:30 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Green Mound Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Trenton United Methodist Church. Born October 13, 1925, in Zookspur, IA, Charles Albert was the son of George A. and Alice Marie Stewart Minarsich. Chuck received his education in the Zookspur and Madrid School Districts. At a young age he enlisted in the United States Army and obtained the rank of sergeant by the time of his discharge. He honorably served his country in the Battle of the Bulge in southern France during World War II. On February 2, 1954, he married Mabel Janet Leydens in Rock Island, IL. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2005. A man who could fix anything, Chuck was a specialist at installing furnaces and air-conditioners. He owned and operated Chuck's Heating and Air-conditioning in Chicago and Wisconsin before moving to Mt. Pleasant in the early nineties where he continued his business. He attended Trenton United Methodist Church. Chuck was a member of the New London V.F.W. and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1003. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Chuck is survived by one brother, George (Barbara) Minarsich of Reynolds, IL; two sisters, Vivian (Leonard) Magier of Moline, IL and Sheila (Richard) Goderis of East Moline, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, Chuck was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Mae Minarsich, Norma Minarsich, Martha Irene Anderson, and Mildred Delores Price.
