Clarence L. Anderson, 87, of Brighton, IA, passed away, Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Per his request, his body was donated to the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa for scientific research. Visitation with the family present will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Bob Wolfe and Pastor Jerry Van Hooser officiating. A general memorial has been established in his memory. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. On line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com Born November 26, 1927, in Fairfield, IA, Clarence was the son of Carl John and Maude (Krumbolts) Anderson. In his early years, he attended country schools and later graduated from Fairfield High School.He received his Master of Divinity degree from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. On June 22, 1957, he married Lois Dorwald in Middleport, NY. Clarence pastored churches all over the Midwest for over 60 years; mostly in Iowa. Sharing Christ's love was a great passion for Clarence. He was eager to share the good news of the gospel with anyone willing to listen. Clarence was a lifelong farmer and was known for winning the Tall Corn Contest at the Iowa State Fair for a number of years. He was often found on the baseball diamonds, volunteering as a coach for little league baseball teams. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with family traveling on summer vacations.He also had a great passion for his blue heelers. Survivors include his wife, Lois of Brighton, IA; one daughter, Leah (Wayne) Woline of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three sons, Dan (Brenda) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Joel Anderson of Brighton, IA and Jon (Michelle) Anderson of Lyman, SC; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving, is one sister, Dorothy Middlekoop of Packwood, IA; one brother, William Anderson of Fairfield, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Clarence in death, were his parents; three brothers, Merlin Anderson, Wilbur Anderson and Gerald Anderson; one sister, Marjorie Russell; two nephews, Roger Anderson and Monte Anderson; and three nieces, Phyllis Hird, Elaine Anderson and Lynn Russell.
