Williamsburg-Coleen McArtor was born August 9, 1943, in Sigourney, Iowa. She was the fourth child of seven born to Rolland and Dorothy (Bowman) Miller and was raised on the family farm near Webster, Iowa. She graduated from English Valley High School in North English and attended the University of Iowa School of Cosmetology. Coleen was united in marriage to Larry Dean McArtor on July 18, 1964, at the Webster United Methodist Church. She taught cosmetology early on in life in Iowa City. After moving to Pella, she had her own in-home daycare where she taught numerous children how to tie their shoes and loved them as her own. Other jobs while living in Pella were custodian at the First Baptist Church and cutting lace in her home for Heritage Lace. In 1992 Coleen joined her husband as an insurance agent in Fairfield until retiring to Williamsburg in 2012. Coleen was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan but her greatest joy was watching her granddaughters in their activities. Coleen died Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Colonial Manor in Amana at the age of 81 years.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; two children, Joleen (Todd) Roorda of Pella and Jason (Renee) McArtor of Conroy; four granddaughters, Tess (Cole Sander) Roorda, Ellie (Noah) Jorgenson, Livia McArtor and Keelyn McArtor and four siblings, Suzanne (Robert) Moffit of North English, Phillip (Connie) Miller of Fairfield, Max (Tracy) Miller of Wellman and Dixie (Terry) Knake of Amana along with many nieces and nephews and their children whom she loved dearly.
