Dale Clifford Buss, 51, passed away at his home in Holbrook, Iowa.
Dale was born on April 2, 1974, to Clifford and Carol in Blue Island, Illinois. From the age of six he was raised by his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Ruth, in the Arkansas Ozarks, a special place filled with wonderful memories of roaming carefree and building forts in the woods with his brother and friends.
When Daniel passed suddenly in 1983, Ruth (aka “Gram”) happily took it upon herself to raise Dale and his brother, Scott, in what was in many ways an idyllic setting at her little home in Henderson, where the boys could roam freely without worry and play in a neighborhood loaded with folks who felt and acted more like extended family than mere neighbors. It was a precious time.
Dale graduated as part of the Mountain Home Bomber class of 1992 and went on to attend college at Arkansas State University before serving honorably as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army.
Dale was, without a doubt, one of the funniest, friendliest, and jolliest people ever made. He could start out simply describing a recent trip to the grocery store and, by the time the story was finished, have anyone listening near tears from laughter at the way he almost accidentally transformed the mundane into something magically comical. He was a unique blessing that way.
In 2009 Dale moved to Holbrook, where be built many deep connections and beautiful relationships. He will be profoundly missed.
Dale is survived by his brother, Scott, and his half-brother, Michael. His five nieces and nephews (Rosie, Wolfgang, Sebastian, Evander, and Katarina) were precious to him.
A memorial gathering is being planned for late August, but details have not yet been confirmed. Those interested in learning more about this event should reach out to ScottAlanBuss@yahoo.com.
