Dale Engel

Kalona- Dale Allen Engel was born March 21, 1943, in Friend, Nebraska, the son of Wes and Irene (Gibson) Engel.  He graduated from Friend High School 1961. He was honored as a football all-state end in the state of Nebraska. After high school Dale graduated Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln Nebraska 1965. Dale then graduated Palmer College of Chiropractic 1969, playing basketball on a scholarship while receiving a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. After graduating from Palmer College he stayed as an instructor. Dale married Betty Westlund in 1970, while teaching at Palmer College. Having an itch to have a Chiropractic office moved to Clarion, lowa to have his first Chiropractic office. After several years in Clarion the Engels decided to make a change and moved his Chiropractic office to Agency, Iowa. After several years in Agency they moved to Kalona, Iowa and owned and operated a health food store for many years. Selling the store to semi-retire and worked a number of years part-time at Organic Greens after which he totally retired. Dale passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Parkview Home in Wayland at the age of 80.

Survivors include wife, a brother Arvon, a sister Sharon and several nephews, nieces and their families Proceeding in death by his parents.
