Darlene Bral, 94, of Marengo, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 4th, 2017, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, with Father Wilkening officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the Fairview Zippers 4-H Club, Compass Memorial Hospital or Meals On Wheels in Iowa County. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darlene is survived by her sons, Phillip (Freda) Bral, Randy (Denise) Bral, Bary (Tammy) Bral, a brother-in-law, LeRoy Bral, her grandchildren, Brent (Christine) Bral, Tige (April) Bral, Shari Bral, Merrideth (Jason) Carden, Tony (Meghan) Bral, Bryan (Marissa) Bral, Randi Bral, Chasstidy (Anthony) Davidson, and several great grandchildren and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil Bral; her son, Roy Bral; a grandson, Slade Bral; an infant great grandson, Jesse Bral; her six siblings, Lina Bigbee, Baunetta Watson, Iris Peek Siske, Ervin Walters and Clarice and Farel in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Marion Gorsch.

Darlene Bral was born on July 29, 1923 in McKune, Kansas, the daughter of Lina and George Walters. She graduated from Cherokee High School in Cherokee, Kansas in May 1941. She lived in Kansas before moving to Iowa in 1942. She married Emil Bral on February 12th, 1945 in Marengo, Iowa. Together they raised their four loving sons on the family farm, south of Marengo.

Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo, Iowa. She was involved in 4-H with the Fairview Zippers Club. She loved working with children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Compass Memorial and Essence of Life Hospice for the care their mother received.
