Darlene Kay “Dar” Graesser, age 70, of West Amana, passed away, Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Luke’s Unity Point in Cedar Rapids. Memorial Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2018, New Apostolic Church, 2930 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Larry Dollmeyer officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 P.M. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Burial will be in the West Amana Cemetery. Memorials may be contributed to St. Luke’s Hospice in Darlene’s memory.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Graesser; three sons, Bill (Connie) of Amana, Steven (Jan) of High Amana, and Michael (Vicki) of West Amana; and four grandsons, Alex (Amanda), Ben, Andrew and Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Darlene Kay Fels was born February 4, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Albert Fels and Louise Neubauer Fels. She attended the Amana schools and graduated from Amana High School in 1966. Darlene and Robert Graesser were united in marriage on March 8, 1964. Darlene was employed over the years as a cook at several Amana restaurants, including the Brick Haus and the Ronneberg. She also sold Avon for many years.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, her cats, her dog, and tractor rides, especially the WMT Tractorcade. She was an active member of the New Apostolic Church, and enjoyed singing with her church friends. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family, and her many friends.
