Daryl Slabaugh

Sharon Center - Daryl Dewayne Slabaugh was born September 17, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Menno and Annie (Coblentz) Slabaugh. He attended Boone School. He completed voluntary service in Portland, Oregon, where he worked as a hospital orderly. Daryl was a lifelong Ayrshire dairy farmer, devoted to hard work, perseverance, and the careful stewardship of the family farm. On September 30, 1967, Daryl was united in marriage to Viola Mast in Goshen, Indiana. He was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday school, was an MYF Sponser and was on the church rebuilding committee. In his later years, Daryl enjoyed participating in Tractorcade events.

Daryl passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 84 years.Daryl is survived by his wife Viola; three children: Mark (Rosemary) Slabaugh of Kalona, Carroll Slabaugh of Iowa City and Frank (Erica) Slabaugh of Kalona; eight grandchildren: Haley (Austin) Yoder, Moria Slabaugh, Paige (Colton) Barnes, Monte Slabaugh, Jacob Slabaugh, Anthony Slabaugh, Paxton Slabaugh and Silas Slabaugh; three great grandchildren: Alexis Yoder, Bella Yoder and Elliot Yoder; a sister-in-law Marge Slabaugh of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Slabaugh.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Fairview Mennonite Church rural Kalona. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery rural Kalona. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Fairview Mennonite Church.
