KEOTA-David E. Lyle, age 64, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Keota, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg. David was born November 13, 1947, in Washington, Iowa, to Richard and Phyllis (Miller) Lyle. He graduated from Keota High School in 1965 and attended Iowa State University. David served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He had his roots in the soil north of Keota, where he grew up and farmed until 1981. David took his dedicated farm work ethic on the road spending 30 years in the trucking industry. Nearly all of his tenure was spent pulling 110' Triple Trailers for FedEx on the Ohio/Indiana Turnpikes. He took pride in beginning his trucking day at 3:30AM and had never been in an accident throughout his career. Delicious meals and the many years of friendship with Rachel were cherished by David. He also enjoyed old western movies, yard work, and keeping up with the activities of his children and grandchildren. David had a kind heart and was well thought of by those who knew him. As David grew ill with the cancer in his body, he found comfort in the growth of his faith in God. Survivors include three children: Jared (Angela) Lyle of Keota, Heath (Jana) Lyle of Cypress, Texas and Audra Conrad of Urbandale; nine grandchildren: Gabrielle, Ethan, Luke, Sierra, Mariah, Cael, Joseph, Anthony and Jonathan; his mother: Phyllis Lyle of Washington; six siblings: Lila (Arlyn) Midtgaard of Hanlontown, Ron (Christy) Lyle of Mesa, Arizona, Nancy (Ed) Crites of Manassas, Virginia, Trent (Joy) Lyle of Keota, Patty (Bill) Treimer of Hartley, Sarah (Matt) Roegner of Beloit, Wisconsin and a very special friend: Rachel DeFalco of Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father: Richard Lyle; daughter: Jamie Lynn Lyle and infant brother: Kevin Lyle. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Keota Education Foundation Scholarship Fund.
