David Lee Knapp

Marengo-David Lee Knapp was born November 14, 1970, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Louis Jr. and Margaret (Owens) Knapp. Dave graduated from HLV High School in 1989. He attended Kirkwood Community College. He grew up in rural Ladora and made his home in Marengo. Dave was united in marriage to Heidi Huedepohl on September 27, 1997, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Dave was a cutting tool specialist at PT Solutions and served as an EMT for Iowa County for 23 years. Dave enjoyed hunting, boating, and farming. Dave’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. David died Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo at the age of 55 years.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi; two sons, Conner (Awnika) Knapp and Caden Knapp all of Marengo; granddaughter, Willow Knapp; brother, Edward (Kathy) Knapp of Marengo; sister, Mary (Randy) Mohlis of Sumner; nephews, Larry Baugh (Dustin Borseth) of Dewar and Nicholas Lacher of Sumner; brother-in-law, Shawn Huedepohl of Marengo; niece, Jenna Huedepohl and her daughter Alivia of Marengo; nephews, Collin and Camden Huedepohl of Omaha; and father-in-law, Terry Huedepohl of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom and mother-in-law, Sheila Huedepohl.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Marengo American Legion Hall. Burial will be at the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo. A general memorial fund has been established.
