Williamsburg - David Paul Kozishek passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, at the age of 87 years.
David Paul Kozishek was born April 28, 1936, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of James and Elenora (Hradek) Kozishek. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1954. David served in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1956-1962. He was trained as a Radar Operator for the Anti-aircraft Defense Command. He had been a farmer, and worked for the National Farmers Organization (NFO) for over 20 years; serving as the National Director, National Secretary and Legislative Liaison. He later became a realtor for Iowa Realty (formerly Byers and Happle) from 1987-2001. David was united in marriage to Doris Dickel on October 11, 1958, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Williamsburg. David was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and was an active member of the Bishop Davis Council of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree. He volunteered to drive folks to appointments and volunteered with Hospice in Williamsburg. David enjoyed reading, woodworking, watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his family.
David is survived by his wife, Doris of Williamsburg; daughter, Diane Kozishek of Coralville; and son, David Kozishek Jr. of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert Kozishek.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Saturday, July 15, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. There will be a prayer service starting at 4:00 pm followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery and Safe Haven of Iowa County. Messages and Tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
