Dawn Marie Newman

Marengo- Dawn Marie Newman was born September 26, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Rose Mary (Andrlik) Rosdail. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1982. She grew up in Fairfax, moved to Belle Plaine and most recently Marengo. Dawn was united in marriage to Dennis Newman and to this union they were blessed with two sons, Lucas and Jaden. They later divorced. Dawn raised dogs and was a babysitter. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and had a love for all animals, especially horses. Dawn died Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo at the age of 60 years after a long courageous battle with diabetes and kidney failure.

She is survived by her sons, Lucas and Jaden Newman; mother Rose Mary Rosdail; granddaughter Alaina; three sisters, Debbie, Shawn and Terri; cousin Cindy; and her nieces and nephews, Cody, Casey and Caylie.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rose Haven Nursing Home and River Valley Dialysis for the wonderful care they provided for Dawn.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 am on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Powell Funeral Home in Marengo. Private family burial will be in the Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
