Dawson Reese Stutzman

Washington- Dawson Reese Stutzman was born November 27, 2004 in Hibbing Minnesota. He attended Mid Prairie. Dawson enjoyed getting read too, art, music, interacting with other children and being outdoors. Dawson passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his home after a lengthy courageous battle with Infantile Batten Disease in the loving arms of his mom at the age of 17.

He is survived by his parents, Rosanna and Jerry Shirkey; a brother, Jagger; a sister, Isla all of Washington; his grandparents, Leon and Jean Stutzman of Kalona and Donna Shirkey of Wellman; His Godmother (His second mommy) Rachel Kongshaug; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandpa Dan Shirkey and a cousin Isaiah Crew.

Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. A general memorial has been established. Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
