Delores Leanna Witte

Delores Leanna Witte (Maas) of Williamsburg, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the age of 84. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy with Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy. Memorials contributions can be made in her honor to Lutheran Interparish School, Williamsburg or Essence of Life Hospice, Amana.

Delores was born on May 15, 1933 in Conroy, Iowa to Arthur G. and Adeline M. Baack Maas and was proud to live her whole life in Iowa County. Delores married Eugene H. Witte in October of 1952 and enjoyed her life as a wife and mother. In 1998, she was recognized by the Governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad, for the many years of volunteer work at the Lutheran Interparish School, Williamsburg.

Delores loved her life in the country and for many years, hosted numerous groups of school children taking field trips to her farm where she raised exotic poultry, dairy goats and other animals. She was an avid reader and gardener. She loved arts and crafts and enjoyed making projects for and with her children and later on, her grandchildren. Delores was an active member of the choir at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy for many years.

Delores is survived by her husband of 65 years, Eugene Henry Witte; her sister, Janis Maas; her three children, Regis (Donna) Witte, Leanne (Gary) Corba and Rebecca (Darrell)Meyer; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Willard and Gilbert Maas and her sisters, Arlene Maas and Dorothea Heinze.
