Dennis Dean Huedepohl, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior early in the morning of April 12, 2026.
He was born Feb. 9, 1940, in York Township, Iowa County, IA, to Walter and Leona (Teggatz) Huedepohl. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School through eighth grade. He was a 1958 graduate of the newly completed Williamsburg High School. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Connie Schrock, as they rode the school bus together each day. They were united in marriage at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Sharon Center, IA, on February 18, 1961. The couple were faithful members of St. Paul Lutheran Church where Dennis supported his wife’s music ministry and also served in numerous capacities.
Dennis worked for Iowa County Farm Service until he began a long career at Farmers Trust & Savings Bank in Williamsburg. The next step in his career began when he and Connie purchased Breckenridge Mobile Home Park east of Iowa City in 1993. They worked tirelessly to upgrade and maintain the property until retirement.
Dennis knew no stranger. He will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his kindness and generosity. He enjoyed antiquing with his wife, fishing and hunting outings with family, and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his four children: Jeff and Gretchen Huedepohl of Jefferson City, MO; Scott and Andrea Huedepohl of Waterford, WI; Shelly Brecht of Watkins, IA; and Kristin and Andrew Ward of Walford, IA; eight grandchildren: Benjamin Huedepohl; Seth (Brittany) Huedepohl; Hannah (Dylan) Schatz; Jacob (Vitoria) Huedepohl; Kelsey Brecht; Tanner (Nicole) Brecht; Nathan (Taylor) Ward; Allison (Zane) Parham; nine great-grandchildren; a large extended family; and special friend and fiancée Sherry Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Connie; sister Dianne Metzner; grandson Aaron Huedepohl; and son-in-law Bryce Brecht.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., also at Powell Funeral Home. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
