Donna Jean Gray

Donna Gray, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at her home. A visitation will be held from 12 noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 4:30-6:30 that evening. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church with Father Wayne Kamm, celebrant. Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery. Born July 18, 1942 in Henry County, IA, Donna Jean was the daughter of Edmond Ray and Mary Helen (Ridinger) Gholson. She had resided in Mt. Pleasant her entire life and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1960. On September 22, 1963, she married B. Brian Gray at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. They were married for over 40 years. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2003. Donna was in banking and secretarial work for many years. She first worked at E.A. Hayes Insurance, followed by Mt. Pleasant Utilities, Hy-Vee, and Metro Group. After 26 years she retired from US Bank as a personal banker. A devoted wife and mother, family was of the highest priority for Donna. Her biggest pride and joy were her grandsons. She enjoyed playing a variety of card games including cribbage and pitch with family and friends, and she loved cross stitching. A Hall of Fame Bowler for the Mt. Pleasant Bowling Association, Donna was involved with the Mt. Pleasant Women's Bowling League. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Survivors include two children Timothy (Sara) Gray and Kim Gray all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two grandchildren, Garett and Gaige Gray; one brother, Robert Gholson; two sisters-in-law, Lana Zihlman and Peggy Dodds both of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
