Doris Ann (Possehl) Kenney, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Mercy Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Visitation will Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 9:30 until 11:00 am, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral Home, with Steve Pickering officiating. The burial will be at the Marengo Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Rapids Mercy Oldorf Hospice House or First Covenant Baptist Church. Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Doris is survived by her children with husband Robert Ohlen: Denise (Dwight) Heitman, Marengo; Robin (Todd) Misel, Ankeny; and Heidi Durbin, Grinnell. She has one stepdaughter, Michelle (Ron) Luckner, seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Mary Possehl, Williamsburg, and a stepsister, Maureen (Susie) McGowen, of Iowa City.

Doris was born August 17th, 1939, to Carl and Mary McMann Possehl in rural Iowa County. After graduating from Conroy High School in 1957, she attended the Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids. Doris owned and operated Hillcrest Beauty Shop in Blairstown, styling hair for 38 years. Later in life, she worked at McGregor’s Furniture in Ottumwa for 10 years. Doris spent 18 years wintering in sunny Florida and loved being part of the snowbird community at the Westwind Village in Bradenton. These sunny months became a welcomed escape filled with new experiences and lasting friendships. She took great pride in her appearance and loved to decorate. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Robert Ohlen, Lynn Harriman and Gary Kenney, brother Dean Possehl, granddaughter Hattie Durbin, and great-grandson Henry Albertson.
