Douglas Alan Sieren was born June 4, 1970 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Francis and Sherry (Dumont) Sieren. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1989. Doug has lived in Wellman, Washington and Sigourney. Doug loved horses and being on the farm. He was an avid listener of country western music. Being a special needs individual, Doug was very proud of his high school diploma. Doug died on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a long illness at the age of 34 years. Doug is survived by his father - Francis and wife Janice of Dallas, Iowa; his mother - Sherry Sieren of Carlisle; a brother - Jeff of Wellman; 5 sisters - Kristine Sieren of Cedar Falls; Lori Silvestri of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Anne Chalupa and husband Nate of Keota; Carmen Allgood and husband Aaron of Des Moines; Amy Sieren of Phoenix, Arizona; paternal grandparents - Carl and Carmelita Sieren of Keota; maternal grandmother - Verna Adams of Sigourney; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather - Elmer Dumont. A private family funeral service will be held at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. Rev. Marty Goetz will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Epilepsy Foundation.
