Earle Leroy Hall

Millersburg, Iowa

July 7, 1930 – June 19, 2025

Earle Leroy Hall of Millersburg, Iowa, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2025, at the age of 94.

Born on July 7, 1930 to the parents of Murray Edward Hall, Sr. and Bessie Marie (Ponchaud) Hall, Earle grew up in Green Valley, east of North English, and graduated from Millersburg High School in 1949. On October 29, 1950, he married Helen Maxine Taylor, and together they built a life centered on family, community, and service.

Earle dedicated 41 years of his career to Iowa County, where he served as the secondary road supervisor. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to public safety, he often spent holidays and family occasions ensuring the roads were safe for others to travel.

A lifelong member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church, Earle was also deeply involved in civic life. He served on numerous boards, including the Deep River-Millersburg School Board and the Millersburg City Council. After retiring, he remained a visible and beloved presence in the area, operating a local lawn service that kept him—and his companion, Nancy Swain—active and connected with the community. Earle was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed dancing, old country music, and had a nak for fixing everything. He was known throughout the community and deeply loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Earle is survived by his son, Loren Hall of Millersburg; daughter, Beth Hall-Brecht of North English; loving companion, Nancy Swain of Millersburg; sister, Merna Back of Palo; and grandchildren: Andrea (Tim) Cerwinske, Craig Hall, Eric Brecht, Roy Brecht, Tyler Brecht, and Bruce Brecht. He also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren whom he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; daughter-in-law, Sally Hall; four brothers—Wayne Dean Hall, Murray Hall Jr., James Hall, and Ronald Hall; and three sisters—Bette Hall, Mary Lou Hopp, and Marjorie Goodman.

Earle will be remembered for his devotion to his community and his enduring love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Millersburg Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Millersburg Cemetery.
