Edna Ruth, 92, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, July 01, 2013, in Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Earl Swigart officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Midwest Old Threshers. Born November 11, 1920 in Mt. Sterling, IA, Edna E. was the daughter of William LeRoy and Katharine Gertrude Geeseka Logan. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1938. On October 30, 1940 she married William W. "Bill" Ruth. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2003. The family lived on farms in Packwood and Fairfield where Edna was a housewife and helped with the farm. They moved to Mt. Pleasant where she worked as a seamstress, and then at the Henry County Court House. Edna retired from work with the Henry County Secondary Road Department. Edna was a member of Business and Professional Woman and would help with the antique popcorn wagon during Midwest Old Threshers. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Favorite hobbies included sewing, gardening, reading and collecting old coins and stamps. Survivors include two sons, Fred Ruth of Ashgrove, MO, and Sam (Cathy) Ruth of Bonaparte, IA; a brother; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Preceding Edna in death are her husband; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters
