Williamsburg- Edward Charles Lacher was born June 10, 1939, near Marengo, Iowa, the son of Max E. and Grace E. (Andes) Lacher. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Martins Lutheran Church near Marengo. Ed attended country school Washington #2 north of Marengo and graduated from Blairstown High School in 1957. Ed was united in marriage to Karol Louise Walter on November 10, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. They lived north of Marengo until 1975 when they moved to Williamsburg. He has worked at Link Belt/FMC for 20 years before working at Sheller Globe/Lear for 22 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed hunting, old classic cars and tractors and spending time with his family especially going to the grandchildren’s activities. Ed was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Ed died on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids at the age of 87 years.
He is survived by his wife Karol of 62 years, a daughter: Marilyn (Mark) Hulseberg; three grandchildren: Heather Conrad, Krista (Jake) Roberts and Ryan (Penny Yenter) Hulseberg; three great grandchildren: Masilyn and Kinsley Conrad and Beckett Roberts all of Williamsburg; a sister: Rosetta Hunzelman of Orlando, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Conroy. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa County Ambulance.
