Emma F. (Mast) Gingerich was born Saturday, September 26, 1936 in Arthur, Illinois the daughter of Fred J. and Anna (Schrock) Mast. She was baptized in her youth and remained a faithful member of the Old Order Amish Church until her death. She was united in marriage to Emery Glen Gingerich on December 17, 1959 in Sullivan, Illinois. Emma lived all of her married life in the Kalona community. Emma died on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at her home in rural Kalona following a lengthy illness at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 17 days. Emma is survived by 5 children - Elwin and wife Linda; Ellen Miller and husband Charles; Evan and wife Ethel all of Kalona; Elysa Hershberger and husband Perry of Riverside; Elizabeth Yoder and husband Lester of Kalona; 28 grandchildren; 2 brothers - Joe Mast of Mulberry, Arkansas; Ervin Mast of Arthur, Illinois; and 6 sisters - Mary, Mrs. Leon Helmuth of Kalona; Barbara, Mrs Abraham Yoder of Milton; Lydia, Mrs. Melvin Miller of Tuscola, Illinois; Sovilla, Mrs Firman Hershberger of Kalona; Susie Mast and Pauline, Mrs. Ivan Schrock both of Sullivan, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Emery; and a grandson Sanford Emery Yoder.
