KEOTA-Esther Marie Vincent, age 83, of Keota, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, following a brief illness. Esther was born August 27, 1921, near Webster, to William Lloyd and Alice Amelia (Thompson) Kephart. She grew up in the Webster area and graduated from Sigourney High School. On November 3, 1941, she married Robert L. Vincent in Kahoka, Missouri. The couple lived in the Keota community where Esther taught Adult Basic Education for Indian Hills Community College and was activity director at Maplewood Manor. Esther was a member of the United Church of Faith, where she taught Sunday School, Women United, Pythian Sisters and Fortnightly Club. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Survivors include four sons: Charles and wife Patricia of Wellman, Gary and wife Rosemary of Carlisle, Michael and wife Connie of Altoona and Bill and wife Kathy of Washington; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; one sister: Jessie Sellers of Sigourney and three brothers: William Kephart of Champaign, Illinois, Russell Kephart of Decorah and Norman Kephart of Comstock, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Robert in 1990; three sisters: Catherine Sheetz, Rose Ahrens and Lillian Ashby and one brother: Norval Kephart. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the United Church of Faith in Keota with Pastor Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A memorial fund has been established for the Wilson Memorial Library. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
