Eugene John Finley was born July 2, 1932, in rural Ladora, the son of Bryan and Marie Conrad Finley. He received his education in the Ladora area schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Eugene married Jeanette Maas in 1956 and later divorced. He was employed by Me Too grocery store, and Harnischfeger Corporation as a welder. Eugene later married Sharlene Whiting in the summer of 1972. He enjoyed his dogs, loved to go on walks, journaling and drawing, crosswords and the Chicago Cubs.
