Marengo-Frank Eugene Navara was born September 24, 1933, in Chelsea, Iowa. He was a son of Frank and Sylvia (Loffler) Navara Jr. Frank graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Marshalltown in 1952 and received his BSC from the University of Iowa. In 1957, Frank was united in marriage to Anna Mae Stalzer at the Immaculate Conception Church in Haverhill. He worked for Thermogas Company in Marshalltown as an office manager from 1958-1969 and a district manager in Marengo from 1969-1997. Frank was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Marengo, the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus (3rd degree, 4th degree, district deputy and state family) and the Elks Club in Apache Junction, Arizona. A love of travel and time with friends and family was central to life shared with Ann. Many happy memories were made visiting loved ones, cheering on University of Iowa sports as longtime football and basketball season ticket holders, and hosting gatherings—whether at football tailgates or at their Arizona home. Additional joys included golfing and following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. Frank died on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Colonial Manor in Amana, at the age of 92 years.
He is survived by his children: daughter Pamela (Scott) Rullestad of Clive; sons Mark Navara of Iowa City and John (Maureen) Navara of Tiffin, Grandchildren: Elizabeth Rullestad (Mark) McAllister and Thomas Rullestad; Nolan (Carly) Navara, Claire, Erin and Ryan Navara; Amanda (Douglas) Warnock and Justin (Terri) Kacena, Great-Grandchildren: Maisie and Amelia McAllister; Reese and Rex Navara; Lily and Emma Warnock; Jalen, Drake, Ayden and Presley Kacena, and Sister: Patricia (Navara) Miller.
He is preceded by his parents (Frank & Sylvia); wife Ann; sister Gloria (Navara) Brennan; and brothers Paul Navara and Tim Navara.
