Williamsburg-Garry Lee Voss was born April 12, 1943 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Harold and Mary Morse Voss. He attended Sumner #5 grade school and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1961. Garry worked for Hahn Construction, Landmark, Red Carpet Service in Victor, from 1969-1979 Garry and Winston Claypool owned and operated the North English Texaco Station. In the fall of 1979 he went to work for Williamsburg Manufacturing until May of 1991. He enjoyed collecting frogs and rocks, fishing, bowling, riding his motorcycle, playing cards, feeding the birds and squirrels, taking a trip to Australia and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Garry died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after an extended illness at the age of 62 years and 19 days. Garry is survived by his sister: Marilyn Voss Mears of Marceline, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Bonnie Voss of Williamsburg; a niece: Vanessa (Jack) McGivern of Lake View, Iowa; a nephew: Tony Voss of Eldora; a great niece: Megan (Jeff) Hansen of Schaller, Iowa and an aunt Laura Voss of Bellflower, California and several cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Norman E. Voss. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2005 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
