Williamsburg- Gary Kurtis Keiser was born August 12, 1944, in North English, Iowa on the family farm, the son of James and Grace (Sears) Keiser. He graduated from English Valley High School in 1962. Gary was united in marriage to Joan Elizabeth Snoddy on March 9, 1963, in Urbandale. He was employed at Procter and Gamble for 31 ½ years, retiring in 1996. Gary enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, attending to his lawn, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 79 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Keiser, of Williamsburg; three children, Brian Keiser (Tia Flanagan), of Atlanta, GA, Shelly (Joe) Westfall, of Williamsburg and Doug (Brenda) Keiser, of Bentonville, AR; four grandchildren, Cody (Catherine) Westfall, Danielle (Kyle) Parton, Bailey Westfall and Samantha Keiser (fiancé Avery Redfield); two great-grandchildren, Aiden Westfall and Thea Westfall; sister, Kathy (John) O’Rourke, of North English; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Keiser, of Iowa City and Jill (Carl) Wycoff, of Nevada, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stan Keiser.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A private family service will be held at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to the English Valleys Community Scholarship Foundation or University of Iowa Palliative Care. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
