Williamsburg-Gerald Leroy Dietze, Sr. was born January 29, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dean and Louine (Schwab) Dietze. Gerald was united in marriage to Cheryl Mae Holeton on April 16, 1966 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. He worked for Metro Pavers for many years retiring in 2006. Gerald enjoyed going to the Landmark and Riverside Casino. He died Monday, March 12, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at the age of 70 years. He is survived by three sons: Gerald Jr. (Laura) Dietze of Keota, Gary (Jen) Dietze and Gregory (Carrie) Dietze all of Williamsburg; 8 grandchildren: Trisha (Jeff) White, Cathrine Dietze, Courtney Brenneman, Ashley, Daniel, Hannah and Jenna Dietze and Camden Kemp; two sisters: Kay (Levi) Williams of Williamsburg and Carol (Chet) Ballard of North English; two brothers: Jim (Jane) Dietze of Williamsburg and Ron (Sherry) Dietze of Marengo. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cheryl in 1995 and a grandson Johnathon Dietze. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday, March 16, 2012 at the St Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in at St. Mary's Cemetery.
