H. Stanley White, age 87, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the English Valley Care Center in North English following a long illness. Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service in North English at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 22, 2005, with Pastors Ben Wilson and Edwin Jordan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday January 21st from 4 PM to 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the North English United Methodist Church. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. H. Stanley White was born on November 7, 1917, in Garden Grove, IA, the son of Elbert R. And Sarah J. Jones White. He grew up around North English and attended North English High School. Stanley began farming near North English in 1930. He served with the Army-Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He lived a short time with his brother in Cheyenne, WY where he worked on the Union Pacific Railroad. He then returned back to Iowa to farm. He enjoyed raising and working with horses. Stanley was a member of the North English United Methodist Church. He became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in November 2003. Stanley died at the Care Center on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 following a long illness. He lived 87 years, 2 months and 11 days. He is survived by sisters Elizabeth Watson of Missouri Valley, IA; Evelyn Van Rossum of Shenandoah, IA; Mary Fry of Moberly, MO; and a brother Allen White of North English; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Phillip White, brother Joseph Kenneth White and a sister Alice Knipfer.
