SIGOURNEY-Harold A. Steinhart, age 94, of Sigourney, formerly of Keswick, died Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his home.
Harold was born March 21, 1932, in Keota, the son of August and Velma (Kleinschmidt) Steinhart and graduated from Sigourney High School. On June 21, 1953, he married Shirley Moore at the Sigourney United Methodist Church. Harold served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until 1955. The couple lived and farmed near Keswick for 40 years until moving into Keswick for 20 years. They then moved to Sigourney in 2015. Harold was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, James Murphy American Legion Post #319 in Keswick and the Holiday Rambler RV Club. He also served on the Tri-County School Board and Keswick City Council. Harold enjoyed woodworking, traveling and RVing with Shirley.
Survivors include four children: Jeffrey (Bruce Ackland) Steinhart of New York, New York, Kevin (Susan) Steinhart of Webster, Diane (Ron) Russo of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Laurie (Alan) Conrad of Basehor, Kansas; six grandchildren: Tristan (Kirstan) Conrad, Tyler (Jessie) Conrad, Maggie (Austin) Taylor, Trey Conrad, Ali (Will) Peltier and Tanner Conrad; eight great grandchildren: Crosby, Beckett, Charlotte, Noah, Harrison, Josephine, Callie and Sadie; two brothers: Terry (Marsha) Steinhart of Sigourney and Wilmer (Katherine) Steinhart of Des Moines and sister-in-law: Pat Steinhart of Thorton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 71 years, Shirley, in 2025 a sister: Nell Weber and two brothers: Glen Steinhart and Duane Steinhart..
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church, with Pastor Trent Steinhart officiating. Burial will be at Sorden Cemetery near Keswick, with military honors by the James Murphy American Legion Post #319. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney.
