Harry E. Ehrman, age 100, of Amana, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral Services; 10:00 am Wednesday January 9, 2019, Middle Amana Church with Elder Betsy Momany officiating. Burial with military honors at the South Amana Cemetery. Visitation: 3-6 pm Tuesday January 8, 2019 at the Middle Amana Church. Memorials may be contributed to the charity of the donor’s choice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harry is survived by a daughter Pamela (William) Daws of West Burlington; a daughter-in-law Rachel Ehrman of South Amana; five grandchildren Dustin (Tracy) Ehrman, Molly (Rob) Kephart, Erin (Joel) Schaefer, Rebecca (Mark Allen) Boscaljon and Emily (Ryan) Wright; nine great-grandchildren Willa and Edgar Kephart, Aliese, Jack and Heidi Schaefer and Madeleine Boscaljon, Ashli, Brandon (Erika), and Colton Spicer; four great-great-grandchildren Lillie, Kellan, Kaylee and David Spicer. Also surviving is his brother Lloyd Ehrman (Evelyn) of Brooklyn Park, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katy, a son Russell, his parents, Edward and Elise Ehrman, and two brothers Willard and Ed, and a sister Irene McMann.

Harry Edgar Ehrman was born November 19, 1918 in Norway Iowa, the son of Edward and Elise Dickel Ehrman. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940 serving with Company “A” 87 th Quartermasters Battalion in North Africa driving a supply truck. He then was stationed in Italy before being honorably discharged in 1946. He was united in marriage to Katy Leichsenring on June 16, 1946 in Amana Iowa. Harry worked with the Farm Department in High Amana. He then worked with Amana Refrigeration as foreman of the brazing department retiring in 1978 after 35 years. Following retirement Harry drove a dry-cleaning truck for Walt’s Cleaners in Marengo.

Harry was a former fire chief of the South Amana Fire Department. He was a member of the Amana Church Society, the Amana Heritage Society and the Amana Arts Guild. He enjoyed horseshoes, shuffleboard, playing cards, board games and dominos. He liked to hunt mushrooms and hickory nuts, go fishing, and head to Texas for the winter. He especially loved to play with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
