KEOTA- Henry F. “Hank” Sigler, age 89, of Wellman, formerly of Keota, died Friday, August 14, 2026, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Hank was born April 2, 1937, on Soap Suds Alley in Keota, the son of George and Agnes (Snyder) Sigler and graduated from Keota High School in 1955. He served as a dental technician in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1975 during the Vietnam War. He married Shigeko Wada and they had two children and later divorced. He then married Beverly Smiley. Hank worked in maintenance at an apartment complex in Florida for several years before moving back to Keota in 2019. Hank enjoyed playing ball with the neighborhood dog, Jake. He then moved to Wellman in 2024.
Survivors include two children: Kathyrn Hall and Anthony (Rhonda) Sigler, both of Louisville, Kentucky; grandson: Anthony Sigler; three step children; several step grandchildren; one brother: Carl (Judy) Sigler of Keota and three sisters: Mary (Barry) Martin of Okatie, South Carolina, Kathy Ewald of Keota and Wanda Ballou of Keota. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Beverly in 2019; brothers: Harold, Gerald, Robert, Donald, Thomas, James, Raymond and William and sisters: Carol McIntyre, Anna Lee Gonzalez, Joyce Schmidt, Georgia Will, Bonnie Amend and Cindy Brown.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdy, August 19, 2026, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Robert Lathrop presiding. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary’s Cemetery in Keota, with military rites by Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
