Williamsburg-Ida Rosina Strunk was born February 12, 1916, the daughter of Otto and Rosina (Von Ahsen) Trimpe, on a farm south of Homestead, Iowa. Ida was the 3rd of 11 children. She attended St. John Lutheran School near Homestead. Ida moved to Cedar Rapids in 1944 and worked at Quaker Oaks for 10 years. While in Cedar Rapids, for entertainment she would go to Danceland, that is where she met Richard. Ida was united in marriage to Richard Strunk on March 30, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church. The couple had lived in Sioux Falls, SD, Saginaw, MI, Chicago, IL and Dallas TX. Richard passed away in 1990, Ida moved back to Williamsburg 3 years later. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, where she was active volunteering to work on the Clarion, Large Print, quilting and the Women’s Guild. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. Ida passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 109 years.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Esther Sandersfeld and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Arnold Trimpe, Alfred Trimpe, Raymond Trimpe and Paul Trimpe; six sisters, Ruth Koehn, Edna Wetjen, Lorena Moennich, Esther Huedepohl, Luella Barnes and Viola Lemon.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time on Monday. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Williamsburg. Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
